For some weeks now, gloom had
blanketed the Horace B. Smedley School.
No one laughed or threw spitballs.
No one even smiled.
Miss Nelson was worried.
几个星期以来，忧郁一直笼罩着
Horace B.Smedley学校。
没有欢声笑语，也没有人扔纸团玩，

Everyone was down in the dumps.
Even the cafeteria ladies had lost their sparkle.
Mr. Blandsworth was so depressed
he hid under his desk. “It’s the worst team
in the whole state.” he said.
